7th-Graders Continue Phase 2 of Clay Mono Print

Spring-Ford School District's Middle School-7th Grade Center continues Phase Two of a Clay Mono Print with renowned artist.

The following release was submitted by Robyn Burckhardt, Coordinator of Arts Alive! at Spring-Ford:

Royersford – Some very talented seventh grade art students at The Middle School have designed and completed a series of 4 prints to present to the Spring-Ford community.  The students have been working with their art teacher, Mr. Brent Kissel and professional Chester County clay artist, Mitch Lyons. This project will reflect the students’ concepts of color and designs surrounding THE FOUR SEASONS. Each print measures 3 ft x 5 ft and will be displayed in the front lobby of the school on Lewis Road.

Mr. Lyons invented the process of Clay Mono Printing-rolling color onto a clay “plate”. Once the design is perfected, they place a fabric-like material onto the plate and with one “pull” a print is unveiled. He is sharing the process with these Middle School students .

The clay mono print project is facilitated by art teacher Brent Kissel and Dr.Tina Weidenbaugh, Principal . This project is sponsored by The Home and School Association, The Student Activity Fund and is supported by the administration.
