Bites Nearby: Craft Ale House

The two year old suburban microbrew mecca sells more than just beer.

A new visitor to Craft Ale House could be excused for thinking that the food menu is an afterthought.  A large blackboard featuring a potentially bewildering array of draught beer choices draws guests' eyes to their left almost as soon as they enter the establishment.  And to be sure, beer is something that Craft Ale House takes extremely seriously.  Restaurants offering $100+ reusable "growler" jugs to bring the suds home are probably not expecting you to fill it with Budweiser (a beverage CAH did not restock after its last bottle sold a few months ago).

But foodies take note: This is an artisanal menu. There are burgers and fries--the latter must be tried with CAH's stellar remoulade--but there are also selections like "shellbark goat cheese and pear salad" and Berkshire Pork Belly, described as a "seventeen-hour braised pork belly [with] confit fingerling potatoes [and] seared Brussels sprouts."

Craft Ale House is open from 11:30am-11:00pm Monday through Thursday and 11:30am-midnight on Friday and Saturday. Closed Sundays. Reservations are not accepted and the restaurant can not seat parties larger than six adults.
