Dead Body Found in New Hanover Field

A woman's body was found Wednesday morning by a local farmer

Montgomery County detectives and the New Hanover Police Department are launching a joint investigation into the death of an unidentified woman, whose body was discovered next to a cornfield in the Frederick section of New Hanover Township on Monday morning.

At 10:22 a.m., New Hanover Police responded to a report that a local farmer had discovered the body of a deceased white female at 2461 Little Road, near the intersection of Renninger Road. A press release from the district attorney's office describes the location as "a remote section of hedgerow adjacent to a cornfield."

According to a report by 6ABC, the property owner – identified as Mark Slater – stated that he and his daughter-in-law observed a tattoo on the body, and added that there were tire tracks in the field near the location of the body. An additional report by CBS3 adds that the deceased is "believed to be in her late teens or early 20s."

The cause of death is pending an autopsy, which is scheduled for later this evening, according to the Pottstown Mercury.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman told Patch on Wednesday night that the body is not that of Kortne Stouffer, a 21-year-old Lebanon County woman who has been missing since July 29.

I'm so sorry for your loss....we have all made dumb mistakes especially as young people. As a mom in her 30's, looking back I can't believe I made it through some of the crazy things I did as a young person. She is so beautiful, I can't imagine losing my child. Her loss has affected an entire community, obviously she's larger than life, even in death. May God comfort you and your family during this difficult time.
