Early Education Professionals Plan to Meet in Franconia

A "winter update" will address additional stresses young children are facing in the wake of recent violent school attacks.

With the violence of Sandy Hook Elementary School still fresh in the minds of parents and educators, the need to talk to young children about violence is evergrowing. Bucks and Montgomery county educators will soon have a chance to learn how to best handle what can be a very difficult discussion to have.

The Montgomery County Cooperative Extension of Penn State will host a 2013 Winter Update for Early Education professionals. The six-hour conference will be held at the Franconia Heritage Restaurant, Banquet and Conference Center, 508 Harleysville Pike, Telford.

Among the topics for discussion will be:

  • Effective Supervision - by Francyne Wharton
  • Tender Topics: Respecting Our Differences - by Lori Borman
  • Stress Management During Stressful Times - by Peter Moses

Educators will receive credits for attending.

"All participants will receive six training credit hours from PQAS certified instructors," said the Coop website. "Continuing Education Units and ACT 48 credits are available."

The conference will run from Saturday, March 16, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $60 and includes all materials and the day's lunch.

For more information on the conference, visit the Montgomery County Coop website. To register for the day's events, click on this registration form link.
