The fourth annual National Night Out was held Tuesday night at in Spring City. Sponsored locally by the Spring City Lions Club, in cooperation with Target, the national sponsor, is a community event that takes place in communities across the country that raises awareness toward the prevention of crime and drugs, as well as gives neighbors a chance to get together and meet.

Every year, a certain number of communities are chosen as award recipients for extraordinary efforts toward National Night Out. Last year, out of 5,000 communities, Spring City was one of only 20 communities to win that award. State Senator Andy Dinniman made an appearance this year and really enjoyed the turnout that National Night Out had brought.

"It is truly a pleasure for me, the state senator to be here," Dinniman said. "This is excellent."
