Hayride of Horrors Canceled in 2011

The Linfield Fire Company’s Annual Hayride of Horrors is canceled for 2011.

The following release was sent in by Mary Jo Rumler, representing the Linfield Fire Company:

Are there really spirits, ghouls and ghosts that live along the Schuylkill River in Linfield? Maybe it’s the Hobbits of Hobbit Land folklore. This year the event was scheduled for Oct. 28-30. The disappointing news is due to a sinkhole on Trinley Road which is in the direct path of our "haunted" route, the event will be canceled.

In 2009, after the first weekend was rained out, the second weekend found us all staring in disbelief as Norfolk Southern Railroad was tearing up the tracks along our scary path. As a result, the Haunted Hayride of 2009 was also canceled. Are there "restless souls" that are tampering with our Halloween fundraiser or just plain bad luck? You decide. We’ll be back in 2012, barring any unforeseen "gremlin" behavior.

Please keep your eyes and ears open to a new, exciting idea. Linfield Fire Company presents: A Winter Wonderland!
