Hearing Set For Limerick Nuclear's Water Use
August 28th hearing will discuss long-running project
Eight years after announcing a public hearing on a water-usage project for the Exelon Limerick Generating Station, the DEP and the Delaware River Basin Commission have scheduled the hearing for August 28 from 6:00pm-10:00pm at the Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown.
Preceding the hearing, there will be an information session from 4:30pm-5:30pm.
Evan Brandt of the Pottstown Mercury reports that the project has been in the "trial" stage. The plan allows the nuclear plant to draw more water from the Schuylkill River, while the water is replaced by water drawn from a closed coal mine.
The DRBC posted the hearing notice on June 28, 2012. Following the hearing, written public comments will be accepted through 5:00pm on October 27, 2012.
According to the DRBC website:
