The word ombudsman may be difficult to say quickly three times, but it is music to the ears of some of Montgomery County’s most vulnerable residents – the elderly.

Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services sponsors a Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program under which volunteer ombudsmen visit residents of local nursing homes, personal care homes and assisted living facilities in the county and make residents aware of their rights, assist them in resolving concerns and problems and helping to ensure their quality of life and care is maximized.

If you want to make a difference in the life of older Montgomery County residents join a team that truly makes a difference.

Interested persons should attend a Volunteer Ombudsman Information Open House on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Montgomery County Human Services Center, 1430 DeKalb St. in Norristown to learn more about how you can be trained to help educate and empower residents of your local nursing homes.
