A report from the SF Historical Society about work that was done by a local scout.
The following was contributed by Bill Brunner, President of the Spring-Ford Area Historical Society:
Over the past 12 years we have had many Eagle Scout projects completed at our local museum. All of these efforts are appreciated and in some cases go unnoticed. Our most recent project appropriately fits this description.
Tim Driedger from Grace Lutheran Church troop 406 here in Royersford is our latest candidate. I met with Tim and his father in October of 2011 to discuss his Eagle Scout project. I outlined a plan we had developed to improving the large room in the basement. This required extensive cement and plaster work as well as painting the walls with a special moisture barrier coating. Tim said he was not adverse to doing the hard work involved and was eager to get started. Of course the plan had to be finalized and then approved by the scout council before he could begin.
I was sure rooting for Tim to be able to get everything lined up. This was work that we needed to have done. It is not seen by the public as visitors do not tour our basement. It is used mainly for storage. The large openings in the floor that were cemented over and the complete plastering of some of the walls would not be so visible once it was all painted.
The members of our society are always willing to help but this type of work requires physical abilities that have long escaped them. I saw 80-pound bags of cement being carried down the steps and tried to remember when I could still pick one up.
The main phase of the repairs started on Jan. 7, 2012 when a whole group of scouts, leaders and parents showed up on a Saturday morning. They came back several times working on the different phases and were able to complete the job by the end of the month.
We wish Tim well in his journey toward being an Eagle Scout. The work he did here at the museum certainly contributes to his being worthy of that honor.

Congratulations to Eagle candidate Tim and his fellow scouts from Royersford Troop 406. It is a great troop with supportive leadership that has produced many Eagle Scouts who have gone on to be successful, community focused men. Best of Luck to Troop 406 and to all scouts pursuing their own Trail to Eagle.

Tim,
I congratulate you and your peers on having completed your approved Eagle Scout Project at the SFHS location. As former Mayor of the Borough I had hornor and privilege to commend, on behalf of the Borough, scouts who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. I was interested in how a project was conceived, the stages of planning, materials required, anticipated costs, how those funds would be raised, who was involved helping the candidate and of course the end result of dedicted effort. Congratulations Tim!! I wish you success as you achieve goals in life even as you achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Dave Urner
