Man Threatens to Kill Ex at Victory Park
Royersford Police responded to a major assault on Friday.
The following incident was sent in by Royersford Police Chief Kevin Schurr:
On Feb. 17 at 3:20 p.m., Royersford Police responded to an emergency dispatch to Victory Park located at 250 Second Ave. in Royersford. The call was for an armed male subject with a knife assaulting a female. Upon arrival, police subdued Mark A. Watson, 47 of Royersford, who was engaged in a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, a 32-year-old female victim who resides in New Berlinville.
Watson did display, threatened and attempted to use a knife during the assault during which verbal threats were also made by him that he would "kill the victim."
The victim received minor injuries during the assault as she was able to fend off the armed attack of Watson with the assistance of an on-scene witness. The victim did not require hospitalization for injuries. During the arrest, Watson was combative with the Royersford police, displayed extreme violent demeanor and appeared to be intoxicated. He was also found to be in possession of various pills and narcotics.
Watson was charged with criminal attempt homicide; aggravated assault; simple assault; possessing instruments of crime; terroristic threats; reckless endangerment; harassment; possession of a controlled substance, and was arraigned by District Justice Edward C. Kropp. Watson was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post the $100,000 cash bail requirement. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Walter Gadzicki of Limerick.

Get a clue ! Obama has NOTHING to do with the fact that the actor is an angry, unstable, intoxicated person apparently abusing narcotics -next thing you'll be blaming it on his childhood upbringing. Actions have consequences - he chose the wrong actions. He chose to drink, ingest the drugs and you don't even know if he has a job or not. Give me a break ! A clear example of trying to someone else trying to place the blame other than where it belongs !

I will say this... LUCKILY, the weather was uncharacteristically beautiful for a mid-February day on Friday, and someone else was out in the park to be able to witness AND stop this heinous crime. Thanks to all the good Samaritans out there!

We need more recreational things to do in Royersford/Spring City. Rite-Aid seriously??? It would be great to see a roller skating rink, bowling alley, outdoors park for skaters, bikes and small children, Movie Theater, Ice cream stand, Restaurant, just to name a few. Ultimately this would create jobs for locals. What will the answer be.......Lets see, we don't have the money or zoning for that type of thing. So sad to hear. Where is the support?

Bob has a great sense of correlation....maybe the increase in population in the area brings higher crime rates or just maybe there was crime before and you didn't hear about as fast/as often now that you do with this website....good job using your thinking and blaming Obama for this one Bob...because there was no drugs or alcohol in Royersford before 2008

Thank you for your reply Zach. I live 2 blocks from Victory Park, and have lived in the area my whole life. Unfortunately bad things happen sometimes.... Our President is not to blame.

yes I know, it was sarcasm...that's why I was pointing out Bob's argument is flawed and there is no causation between Obama being president and the presence of drugs and alcohol in Royersford....

Yes Kevin--- luckily that person risked their own life for someone they did not know-- not many would do that
