Maurer Found Guilty in Hit-and-Run Trial

Results of the trial for the 2011 hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a local woman.

Patricia Maurer, 75 of New Hanover, who was accused of a hit-and-run in April 2011 that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old pedestrian woman, was convicted of a felony charge of accidents involving death or personal injury on Friday, according to Carl Hessler Jr, of The Pottstown Mercury.

Authorities originally looked for the driver of the fatal hit-and-run, who had fled the scene on April 27, 2011. Through her attorney, Maurer later admitted to driving the 2003 Toyota Camry that struck and killed Kristy Bender, as she walked home from her job at the Kohl's.

According to Hessler, the charge she received can carry a sentence between one to seven years in prison. For the full story, click here.
