No Life-Threatening Injuries in Three-Car Accident

A crash update on Township Line Road.

Preliminary reports of a three-vehicle accident on Township Line Road began coming in at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The accident occurred nearest to the road's intersection at W. Linfield-Trappe Road right outside of the Freedom Valley YMCA - Spring Valley Branch. Access to Township Line Road was closed off at that intersection.

Limerick Police confirmed an elderly woman driving in the northbound lane (uphill) crossed over into the southbound lane and struck the southbound-traveling vehicle head on. That vehicle then did a 360-degree turn and clipped a third car.

Police said a witness on scene confirmed all information. No evidence of cell phone use was found. Police identified the driver at fault to be an elderly woman who could not recall what happened after the accident.

The driver at fault had to be removed from her car by fire companies. She was taken to The Reading Hospital and Medical Center by ground. Police reported no major, life-threatening injuries in the accident.

On scene to assist were Limerick Township Police Department, Limerick Towing & Recovery, Limerick Fire Company, Linfield Fire Company, Trappe Fire Company, and Upper Providence Township Police Department.

Limerick Police Chief Bill Albany said the accident should be cleaned up and the road opened back up to traffic by 4 p.m.
