Backyard Oil Spill Causes Street Closing

A leaking oil tank left a mess in one resident's yard.

Firefighters and police responded to a hazardous materials emergency call in the 200 block of Washington Street on Saturday afternoon.

A neighbor who was cutting the grass behind the homes on Washington Street noticed the oil in the yard. The home's owner then called for emergency help.

Workers from Lewis Environmental and Oehlert Brothers also arrived to help.

Kudos to the homeowner for calling the right people to do the cleanup correctly the first time.
