One to Three Inches of Snow Expected Over Night

An update from our weather guru Tom Thunstrom.

A cold front and a soon-to-be-developing area of low pressure off of the East Coast will team up to bring some precipitation to the region tonight and tomorrow morning.  Initially starting as light rain, colder air will filter in from the northwest as the night progresses and help change the rain over to snow overnight.

Snow will not be terribly heavy but it will be steady enough to accumulate much in the manner of the "storm" we had on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The most persistent and steadiest of the light snow looks to fall between 4 and 7 a.m.

The steadier snowfall will taper off to a period of snow showers on Saturday morning, with the possibility of more snow showers later Saturday afternoon and evening as cold air works in with the impending cold front.

In terms of total accumulations, anticipate between one to three inches of snow through the region, with the highest snowfall totals in higher elevations and the lowest totals closer to Philadelphia. Some totals of above three inches are possible to the northeast of our region but those amounts should be the exception and not the rule.
