Outlets Owner Accepting Scholarship Applications
The Simon Property Group offers college money for local students.
The Limerick Post reported today that Simon Property Group, Inc. the owner of the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, is offering $1 million in college scholarships to students that live within 50 miles of a Simon mall.
The Simon Youth Foundation, a non-profit division of the management company, offers scholarship money for at-risk students who plan to attend an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school.
Students can win a one-time, $1,400 scholarship. One student out of all the applicants will also win an "Award of Excellence", which is a $2,500 scholarship renewable for up to three years.
Scholarship recipients are evaluated on academic performance, leadership skills, school and community activities, and financial need. Special consideration will also be given to students who are the first person in their family to attend college.
Applications can be picked up at the outlets' customer service desk or downloaded at this website.

While the offer of local scholarsips is certainly laudable -( and also a very savvy public relations move ) - what is needed FAR more is greater funding for the Limerick police department to hire more officers. The outlets drain scarce police resources from the rest of the township.

Funny you say that, because they approved the hiring of two officers yesterday.
