Painter Announces Kids' Art Contest

The contest will run until May 20 and is open to all 1st through 5th graders in the 146th District.

Pennsylvania Representative Mark Painter recently opened his office in Pottstown, and now he's holding a contest to show off local students' artwork to decorate it.

According to a press release from his office, Painter is looking for entries from first through fifth graders in his district, which includes Limerick, Royersford, Pottstown, New Hanover, and the Pottsgroves.

There are three categories, divided by age, each with its own theme.

First graders are asked to submit artwork featuring the Liberty Bell. Second and third graders' work will feature Betsy Ross and the American flag, and fourth and fifth graders' projects will depict Benjamin Franklin and lightning.

Entries will be judged on the basis of their use of the theme, their creativity and originality and their artistic design.

Students can submit artwork to Rep. Painter's office by contacting 610-326-9563 or e-mailing malexander @pahouse.net.

The winners will each receive a Certificate of Appreciation from Rep. Painter, and their work will hang in his office in Pottstown.
