Rush Hour Accident Snarls Ridge Pike Traffic

Two-car crash blocks traffic lanes

An accident on Wednesday at just about 5 p.m. blocked two lanes of traffic for just under an hour on Ridge Pike, at the stoplight near the McDonald's.

Limerick Township Police Officer Tim DiGregorio said that the accident involved a silver Lexus and a green GMC pickup. The Lexus was turning left onto Ridge Pike westbound when it was hit by the truck. The truck was traveling eastbound in the right lane.

DiGregorio said three witnesses stated they saw the pickup run a red light and strike the Lexus.

The female driver of the Lexus had to be extricated from the car by the Limerick Fire Department and was transported to Phoenixville Hospital. DiGregorio said the driver's injuries were not traumatic, and there were no other injuries.

Traffic opened back up on Ridge Pike at about 5:45 p.m.
