SC Chief Addresses Public on Recent Shots Fired
A statement from Spring City Police Chief Art Brown
With the recent shots fired in East Vincent Township, we asked Spring City Police Chief Art Brown for some tips or warnings to send out to the community. He took the opportunity to address the public on Wednesday afternoon:
"In light of that recent shooting in East Vicent," Brown said. "I want to remind the community that they are the eyes and ears of the community. So, when they see or hear something suspicious, they should call us and let us check it out. We can't be everwhere, so we depend on some help from our citizens."
There have been no further developments on the case to date.

Again, you confirmed my second sentence above. More importantly, where are the weekly police reports? The council minutes reflect quite a bit of police activity in the borough, so why nothing to report here each week? What control does council have over that?

Local Yocal,
You obviously have not been to many council meetings in this town. The politicians over in that building are a complete joke. They have this mentality that nothing can be spoken of with this town unless they say it is OK. You either follow this or are out of a job. When it comes to emergency managment (Fire, Police, EMS, and the EOC) one can look at all that has happened over the years in this town and see that they had the best services out there and now we have minimal services or ones that are not as caring to the community as what was once had. this is all because the more parties involved, the less control the borough has. Why do council minutes reflect alot of activity, but nothing reported to papers? The answer is that that information is very vague and is a month or two old already.

John C, Correct, That was my point.in my first response. All we can do is vote vote vote...and start replacing the borough manager and any tenured staff. It's not 1940 anymore.

Hello,
My name is Gene Sweeney and I am the newest member of the Spring City Borough Council. I’d like to say I appreciate the public service that the Patch performs by reporting on our community and giving residents a chance to share their concerns and point of view.
The main reason I ran for council was to be a representative of the people. I think we have a great community and I would like to see it stay that way. I am not looking for power, fame, fortune or a career in politics. I know there will be times when votes are cast that not all community members agree with, but my goal is to follow the will of the folks and whatever is best for our town.

In order for council members to know what the people are concerned about, it is important that they share their thoughts with us. Meetings are open to the public and members of the community are welcome to speak. I am also available before and after the meetings if people would prefer to talk in a less public setting. I understand we all have busy schedules and making meetings can be a burden. I would be happy to communicate through the US Mail, telephone or e-mail. My e-mail address is sweeneyspringcity@gmail.com. I prefer to not post my phone number here, but will be happy to e-mail it to you.
I agree with The Matrix, Chief Brown is doing a great job. I look forward to hearing creative ideas to improve the future of our town and hope the citizens of Spring City continue to share their thoughts with their elected representatives. Our next council meeting is Monday, April 2, please come and tell us your ideas!
Sincerely,
Gene Sweeney
