Shrubs Ignite Upper Providence Home
A Thursday evening house fire left responders working for two hours
Local police and fire responders were on scene at 37 Dale Dr. in Upper Providence on Thursday evening to extinguish a house fire. The fire occurred around 4 p.m.
Upper Providence Township Fire Marshal Joshua Overholt did not have many details on the fire, but said the shrubs in front of the house were first to catch the flames, and then the front of the house.
Overholt said the residents inside the house, which total about seven, first sensed an odor of smoke before they saw the house to be ablaze. The family appeared to be OK, with no injuries reported.
Departments on hand included Oaks Fire Company, Royersford Fire Company, Upper Providence Fire Company and Trappe Fire Company. Upper Providence and Schwenksville police were also on scene.
The fire appeared to be taken care of at about 4:45 p.m., but as responders were wrapping up, hot spots were found on the lower right corner of the house. Responders spent the next hour and a half removing stucco and extinguishing smoke and flames from inside the walls. Crews started packing up at about 6:10 p.m.
Overholt said the investigation is still pending and more information should be available within the next day or two. Patch will have more information as it is made available.

Thanks to the random gentleman who drove by, turned around and actually put the fire in the bushes out! We do have some sensible individuals still around. May God bless you!
