Spring-Ford choir director Yvonne O'Dea announced today that the Spring-Ford High School Vocal Ensemble has been chosen as a semi-finalist for the B101 Christmas Choir competition with their song "Fum Fum Fantasy".

"We are beyond excited," O'Dea said in an e-mail.

"We entered the contest last year with 'The First Noel'," O'Dea said. "I chose the song "Fum, Fum, Fantasy"...because I felt it was something that the kids would really enjoy learning.   It is a really nice traditional English carol and it has been fun for us to put together."

The group recorded the song, with the help of John Matsko, and submitted at the beginning of November.

The ensemble's performance can be heard on B101 (101.1 FM) between 7:00 and 7:15am and voting will begin on B101's website immediately afterward, continuing until 9pm. You can listen to the song online if you miss it on the morning radio show.  

If Spring-Ford wins on Tuesday, they go to the finals on Thursday, where they'll be played again around 7am with voting until 9pm.

If they're chosen as the winners, they'll win a brand-new Cunningham Model 125 piano (valued at over $7,000).

They'll also get the opportunity to perform their winning song with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops at the Holiday Pops Concert on Wednesday the 19th, 8pm at the Kimmel Center. 

This is the fourth annual Christmas Choir competition sponsored by the radio station. The winning choirs in two divisions (Division I is K-8th grade and Division II is 9th-12th grade) win the piano and the performance. Second place wins $2,000 for their program, and third place earns $1,000.
