Spring-Ford Gearing Up for Homecoming

Several activities for students and families are planned.

Spring-Ford Area High School is getting ready for its Homecoming weekend, which will be next Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13.

The central event is, of course, the football game against Methacton at 2:30pm on Saturday.

Gates will open at 12:30pm for pre-game festivities, including musical performances and the introduction of the Homecoming court.

Spring-Ford's 2013 Homecoming Queen will be announced at halftime.

Students have already voted for the members of the Homecoming court, according to the high school website. They are:

  • Freshman Princess Brisa Wilson
  • Sophomore Princess Jessica Cantello
  • Junior Princess Megan Pinkerton
  • Homecoming Court, in alphabetical order:
    • Girls: Briana Barone, Kristi Britain, Taylor Obzud, Haley Puckett, and Nicole Rudderow
    • Boys: Hank Coyne, Jon Diep, Josh Fleisher, Stevie Sharon, and RJ Sheldon.

Friday night will have the annual Powder Puff football game which benefits St. Jude Children's Hospital.  The game starts at 5:00pm at Coach McNelly Stadium. Junior and senior girls will play while junior and senior boys serve as cheerleaders.

Tickets for the Powder Puff game are $5 each and will be available at the gate.

In addition to the game, Saturday brings the Homecoming Parade starting at noon. The Spring-Ford Rams marching band will perform, as will the chorus and the middle school marching band. Members of the district's sports teams, local fire companies, members of the school board and local dignitaries will all participate.

The parade will start at 7th Avenue and Washington Street, proceed down 7th to Main Street, turn left on Main and continue to 5th Avenue, and then turn left onto Green Street. From Green Street, the parade will end behind Coach McNelly Stadium.
