Spring-Ford High School art students currently are showcasing their work at the 26th-annual juried “Touch the Future” art show, open now until March 14 at Arcadia University in Glenside.

The annual exhibition consists of artwork from public high schools in Bucks and Montgomery counties, and features artwork of every creative medium.

According to an article on Limerick Patch, the Mideastern Region of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (MER/PSEA) and the Council for the Advancement of Public Schools (CAPS) sponsors the art show, which began as a way to honor Christa McAuliffe, “the first teacher in space, who perished aboard the space Shuttle Challenger. McAuliffe’s motto was, ‘I touch the future … I teach.’”

This year’s chairpersons for the “Touch the Future” art show were art teachers Kelly Washington of Pennsbury High School, Connie Berger of Cheltenham High School and Lynne Pribis of Upper Dublin High School.

According to the CAPS website, over 300 pieces of artwork were submitted, and judged in 14 category. Many of the Spring-Ford High School students devoted submissions to jewelry/metals artwork and computer graphics pieces.

The art show exhibition is free and open to the public. It is located inside Arcadia University’s Commons Art Gallery and The Great Room lobby area.
