Due to ongoing road issues, the district is asking for parents' help in managing transportation needs.
A Skylert e-mail from Spring-Ford Area School District asks that parents who dropped their children off at school today because the buses couldn't get to them to pick them up, to come collect their child at the end of the school day.
In the e-mail, the district is asking parents to pick their children up because the district is not made aware whether roads will reopen during the day.
Patch ARE David Powell, who has a child in a Spring-Ford school, called the school and was advised he did not need to come get his daughter if he is positive the bus route is open. If that is the case, regardless of whether you dropped your child off at school, they will be able to come home on the bus.
If you need to pick your child up at one of the elementary schools, please call the school to be placed on the parent pick-up list.
The district asks that all parents please continue to follow this procedure until roads are reopened and full bus service is restored.

David Powell must be one of the many parents that think the school district and it's employees are at his beckon call.

I wouldn't trust some "parents" with a rock. I'm surprised they are able to make it a full day without any kind of assistance.

Where is the common sense? Parents must take responsibility for notifying the District when the roads are out of service in their area. Then if you bring your child to school because the bus is unable to travel on the roads, your responsibility is to pick up your child at the end of the day in a TIMELY manner!

Our road was open and the bus never showed up. A neighbor was nice enough to take our child to school, then I get a call that I "might" have to pick my child up?! Talk about disorganization. I called the school to find out what was going on and was informed one of the roads on our route had a detour due to a down tree and the bus couldn't "deviate" from the route. WTH? Can't "deviate"? I later check out said road and it was easily avoided with a few turns, it literally took me less than 60 seconds to get around the detoour. 98% of the kids on our child's bus could and should have been picked up. Poor communication and poor planning on the part of the high school. Our children are expected to think on their feet and be adaptable, but the school district fails to take a few turns to make sure these kids get to school? Very disappointing.
