Spring-Ford Sophomore Arrested for Threats

A sophomore student was arrested after he allegedly threatened others.

The Limerick Township Police have arrested a 15-year-old Spring-Ford Area High School sophomore after he allegedly threatened to shoot someone at the Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center.

According to a post on the department's Facebook page, the juvenile reportedly told other students that he was going to "shoot up the place" and that "someone is going to get shot".

Limerick Township police chief William Albany told Patch that the principal and a security officer notified police about the alleged threats two weeks ago. The investigation continued after the Thanksgiving break, and after interviewing the juvenile and several witnesses, the student was arrested.

A district spokesperson said that the incident occurred on November 14 and the student was disciplined by the district.

The student was charged with two counts of making terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and harrassment. He is being held at the Montgomery County Youth Center pending an evaluation.

such sad times we live in when life is very precious and sad this will follow this student for a long time if not his whole life- somtimes though the the ones causing this teen to feel this way are the true culprits- hope he can maybe receive some help to figure out his problems and thankful it did not happen

I agree Henry. Also sad when what was likely an idle or frustrated threat has to be taken seriously and those charges will be part of his record impacting his future.

What happened to a good old fashioned fist fight off school grounds to settle beefs? If this kid didn't threaten to "shoot up the place" and that "someone is going to get shot", none of this would have happened.

This is a tough one. On the one hand we don't want a shooting, but on the other all the student did was talk. I say that without a victim there's no crime & in this case there's no victim. Maybe it would have been better to expel the student & bar him from the school grounds.
