While pharmacies run short, the North Penn VNA serves communities in the Spring-Ford area.
As the nation's pharmacies start to run short on the proper flu vaccine, those in the Spring-Ford area have hope.
According to an article in the Lansdale Reporter, the North Penn Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) has a bountiful supply of the vaccine and is offering them to the public.
The zip codes of Schwenksville, which includes residents of Limerick Township, and Oaks are serviced by the North Penn VNA.
"According to VNA spokesperson Theresa Humphreys, as of Wednesday morning the VNA still had 'several hundred flu shots available for the community,'" said the article. "Shots are free for adults who have Medicare as their primary health insurance. For everybody else, the shot costs $25, although an individual could potentially be reimbursed if they have health insurance coverage."
Humphreys said that getting the shots out into the North Penn residents was crucial.
"The North Penn VNA flu shot program is a big supplier of flu shots in the community," said Humphreys to the Reporter. "Selling flu shots helps North Penn VNA provide programs to our most vulnerable community members through our children’s clinic, dental clinic, and seniors services."
The VNA serves a wide territory, including most of Montgomery County and portions of Bucks. For a full detailed map of its service area, click here.
