'Unprovoked Attack' Lands PJP2 Grad in Prison

Former hockey star jailed for attacking his WCU roommate.

The former captain to the Pope John Paul II High School's hockey team will be spending his summer in prison, according to the Pottstown Mercury.

Zachery Russell, 20, of Gilbertsville, was sentenced to three to 23 months in Chester County prison for attacking his West Chester University roommate. Russell attacked the roommate when he found out he'd reported his drug and alcohol use to school authorities, said the report.

"This was an all-out, unprovoked attack," said Deputy District Attorney Michelle Frei, describing what happened in the Brandywine Hall dormitory at WCU last April to the Mercury. "It was not a one-punch case."
