Update: Fire in Upper Providence Damages Home

Multiple departments are on scene.

Update 12:46am:

Radio reports indicate that all of the home's occupants are accounted for and that crews are beginning overhaul of the structure.

Patch also spoke to Tim Elbertson from the Montgomery County Emergency Operations Center.

"It was one alarm," Elbertson said. Fire crews are still working on getting the fire out.

Elbertson said they are not sure of the cause of the fire.

"The residents did have a generator running, but we don't know if that was the cause," Elbertson said. "They haven't even started the investigation yet."

Earlier:

A large fire is burning at a home in the 900 block of Maple Street near Vaughn Avenue in Upper Providence Township. The home appears to be in the Highlands development.

Several fire departments are on the scene and working to get the fire under control.

Reports first came in over fire and police scanners around 11:37pm. Scanner reports indicated it looked like a generator fire.

At approximately 11:50pm, radio calls mentioned a second floor collapse and firefighters were order to evacuate the building.

Firefighters were also heard asking for multiple supply lines.

At 12:08am, radio reports indicated there is fire through the second floor and attic of the home.

Several Royersford residents said on our Facebook page that they could see the fire from Main Street in Spring City and smell smoke around 2nd Avenue and Green Street.

There is no information on whether anyone was home at the time of the fire.

Patch will update the story as more information becomes available.

Someone just lost their home, most likely everything inside too and all you can do is make lame jokes about their choose to purchase in new construction development. Wow... My heart goes out to this family and also you Jim, hopefully you find your heart soon.
