Foxes!

In between browsing the region's Patch sites, fielding email, and listening to the police scanner, I spotted this pair of sleepy visitors in my yard in the Schwenksville section of Limerick on Wednesday morning.

The red fox (vulpes vulpes) is highly adaptable and very comfortable in the Pennsylvania suburbs, but I was still excited to see them. I've seen them furtively slinking around the neighborhood previously, but it was cool to catch two of them at the same time, soaking up some of the autumn sun's warmth with the help of a patch of asphalt.

I also got pretty jazzed the first time I saw a turkey vulture and a great blue heron. After seven years in town, I'm pretty used to seeing deer, but as an immigrant from central New Jersey, a region that sometimes seems comprised exclusively of strip malls, all this other wildlife is still a novelty to me.

Since the developers have over developed the PV you see more of this wildlife. Really bad near Rahns and Skippack. Guess these refugees from Philly need housing.
Cool pics, anyway!

Thanks, Roy. I grew up rarely seeing anything bigger than squirrels (or the occasional feral cat) in my yard. Whatever the cause, I'm enjoying the scenery.
