Heading to the 2012 Democratic National Convention

Exactly three (3) weeks from today, I will be arriving in Charlotte, NC to mark the start of the 2012 Democratic National Convention. As an elected delegate from the 6th Congressional District, I am looking forward to participate in this National Political Event that occurs every four years.

Although the actual Convention is only three days long, From Tuesday, September 4th,  the day after Labor Day, until Thursday evening, September 6th, when President Obama and Vice-President Biden give their acceptance speeches to the National Democratic Party Organization, there will be a lot of events, receptions, caucuses and meetings to attend.

Starting on Sunday evening during my arrival in Charlotte, there will be a welcome reception for delegates. On Monday September 3rd, Labor Day, the City of Charlotte, NC will be celebrating “Carolina Fest” which will lend itself to the culture and sights of the Convention site this year.

The Convention actually convenes on Tuesday of that week, and currently, I am aware that the First Lady, Michele Obama will be addressing the Convention and its Delegates. On Wednesday, Former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter will both be speaking, and on Thursday evening the Nomination and election of President Obama & Vice-President Biden, as the Candidates for the Democratic Party will happen.

Throughout the three days of the convention, caucus meetings and the actual evening events will take place. I had set up this Blog site on Limerick Patch, “The Democratic Corner” with the intent to cover the Convention while on-site, and as a Participant. Additionally, I have established a Twitter Account with the username of “FSBSUPERV” for use as well. I will now have the ability of “Tweeting” from the floor of the convention in Real Time and posting photo’s as well, while having conversations with many of the Politicos at the event. Formal Blogs with be posted as time allows.

It will give many of you an opportunity to see firsthand, and “Live”, what is happening during the week’s event. I would encourage those that will be following this Blog who also have Twitter Accounts, to link in, and pass onto me any questions you may have while I am in conversation with many of the notable individuals that will be attending the Convention.

I am looking forward with anticipation to this experience, and hope that I can pass on the flavor, sights, and impact of this event.
