Whenever I am asked to review a book for Lisa's Reads I get so excited. I mean, seriously?...Just seven months ago there was no such thing as Lisa's Reads and now I have amazing and loyal readers, budding relationships with a few authors, and I have been approached several times to read and review books. Squeal! While I am aware that that is the nature of being a book blogger, it is still so exciting for me!!!
As you know, I do not write negative reviews. While I personally have NO problem with reviewers who do have a rating system and who do write negative feedback for public consumption, I am not that reviewer. There is definitely a purpose for honest opinions, I mean how would we know which dishwasher to buy or what car-seat is safest for our children? How would we know that a certain doctor gives great medical care but has horrible bedside manner?...We wouldn't..Honesty is vital! That being said, opinions are just that...they are an individuals perspective on said individuals experience....
Who am I to tell you what books are good and what books are bad? The answer is....I am just a woman who enjoys reading.
All of that said, the times when I receive a request to review a book that I love...well...that's like finding a $20 in the pocket of your jeans that have been boxed away since last fall. It's exciting and thrilling! That was the feeling I had today when I read Jamie Canosa's, "Temptation". Usually, I am not one for novellas. I find them to be too short, too rushed, and too forced. I get sucked into the stories that I am reading, with short stories..by the time I identify with the characters the story is wrapping up. This was not the case with "Temptation". Ms. Canosa managed to put more story in 94 pages than some authors are able to do in twice that amount.
