Rich abstractio n in a bold\, powerful palette\, a mainstay of her work\, transitions to references to the figure\, botanicals and still life. Iconic images such as orbs\, birds\, water and earth elements are investigated in t andem with color juxtapositions that are built up from layers and laye rs of pigment. The exhibition runs from June 1 through Sept. 23. An il lustrated lecture by curator Mel Yoakum\, Ph.D. will be presented Sept . 20 at 3 p.m.\nThe exhibition is curated by Mel Yoakum\, Ph.D.\, autho r of Stone Echoes: Original Prints by Franç\;oise Gilot and a sc holar of her work. He began his association with Gilot in 1987\, organ izing exhibitions and cataloguing her extensive oeuvre of oil painting s and works on paper. He has authored numerous essays and catalogues f or the artist and he also serves on the Board of Directors of the Berma n Museum of Art.\nThe Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art at Ursinu s College is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, Tuesday through Friday\, and noo n to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Museum is closed Mondays a nd college holidays. The Museum is accessible to the physically disabl ed\, and admission is free. The Museum is accredited by the American A ssociation of Museums.
