Since 1921, the men and women of the Limerick Fire Department have safeguarded the lives and property of the township's residents, even as the township itself has expanded from an agricultural hamlet to a densely populated bedroom community within the wider Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Thirty-five active volunteer firefighters and five active firefighting apparatus make up the department today. As in most volunteer fire companies, Limerick Fire relies heavily on memberships and community donations for its funding. Fundraisers, such as Texas Hold `Em poker nights and an annual Christmas tree sale, have proven popular with the community.
