 shington Dance Theatre on  Saturday\, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. in the Science C
 enter Theater\, 340 DeKalb  Pike\, Blue Bell. Tickets cost $28 general a

 ve choreography will kidnap your attention  for the entire evening as yo
 u watch this Los Angeles-based repertoire  dance ensemble perform as par
 t of its nine city mid-Atlantic tour.  Washington uses dance to explore 
 social and humanitarian issues\,  including various aspects of African-A
 merican history and culture. She  won an Academy Award for her choreogra
 phy in Disney's "The Little  Mermaid" for "Under the Sea." She was also 
 featured in a PBS special for  her choreography for "Gospel Kwanzaa." NA
 SA selected her to choreograph  its "Mars Millennium Project" educationa
 l video that depicts dance in  the first human colony on Mars. Most rece
 ntly\, she was instrumental in developing some of the conceptual moves i
 n the mega-hit movie "Avatar."  The tour of Lula Washington Dance Theatr
 e is made possible by a grant  from Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation with su
 pport from the National  Endowment of the Arts.
