DESCRIPTION:The Rev. Richard T. Schellhase will speak at Ursinus College 
 on Jan.  17 as the holder of the Davis Visiting Professorship of Judeo-C
 hristian  Values. The talk will be at 7 p.m. in the Lenfest Theater\, Ka
 leidoscope  Performing Arts Center. His talk is titled &ldquo\;Some Thou
 ghts About Being at Home in the Universe.&rdquo\; The event is free and 
 open to the public.\nDr. Schellhase has had a long and distinguished car
 eer in the field  of philanthropy and in the clergy. Born in 1924 in Nor
 ristown\, Pa.\, he  attended Mercersburg Academy and was a member of the
  Ursinus College  Class of 1945. He received a degree from Lancaster The
 ological Seminary\,  and attended the University of Edinburgh and the Lu
 theran Theological  Seminary of Philadelphia.\nSince 1947 he has been a 
 respected clergyman in the Evangelical  and Reformed Church\, and its su
 ccessor\, the United Church of Christ. His  philanthropic career accompl
 ishments include a decade as the Director  of Development for the Buddhi
 st Churches of America Endowment  Foundation. He also served as Vice Pre
 sident for Development\, Pacific  School of Religion\, Berkeley\, Calif.
 \, and as Vice President for  Development\, Lancaster Theological Semina
 ry. In each position he headed  highly successful capital campaigns. The
  Rev. Schellhase served as  Assistant Professor of Religion at Ursinus C
 ollege from 1956 to 1964 and  received an honorary Doctor of Divinity De
 gree from Ursinus in 1968. He  is a member of the First Congregational C
 hurch in Berkeley\, Calif.\nThe Davis Chair of Judeo-Christian Values wa
 s established by  Nancy Davis in honor of her late husband\, Thomas\, Cl
 ass of 1952\, a  former Trustee.\nUrsinus College is a highly selective\
 , independent coeducational  liberal arts college located on a scenic\, 
 wooded 170-acre campus in  suburban Philadelphia. The college is one of 
 only 8 percent of U.S.  Colleges to host a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
