Chestnut Street in Royersford Closed for Water Main Repair

The street will be closed for two months, according to borough officials.

Royersford Borough Manager Michael Leonard announced last week that Chestnut Street in the borough will be closed between Lewis Road and Fourth Avenue for water main replacement for roughly two months, beginning Monday.

The construction will "improve service reliability for customers and increase water flows for firefighting," according to the borough's water provider, Pennsylvania American Water.

According to the company, the replacement of roughly 2,000 feet of aging pipe in the borough that dates back to the 1920s will cost about $265,000.

Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.; customers may experience temporary service disruptions, discolored water or low water pressure.

"Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the length of these temporary inconveniences," according to Pennsylvania American Water.
