Pumpkin Fest Set for Saturday

WBA looking forward to another successful year

The cool air of autumn has arrived just in time for this year's Pumpkin Festival, set for Saturday at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School's Victory Fields.

Michael Grossman, president of the Whitemarsh Business Association, which hosts the festival, says this year should be another great day for the community. Among the main attractions will be pony and hay rides, face painting, a home run derby, and more. Local businesses such as karate and dance studios will also hold performances, while several dozen vendors will take up beneath tents, Grossman said. This will include food vendors serving items like hot dogs and funnel cake.

And it's for a good cause as well; after the WBA covers costs, proceeds go directly to a scholarship fund for Colonial School District students, Grossman said. Although he admits, times have been a bit rougher recently, as donations from local businesses and the township have dried up in the down economy. All the more reason for the community to come out and support its schools and businesses, while having a good time.

"It's all coming together and we think it's going to be a terrific time for residents," Grossman said.

The festival is scheduled to run from 12 to 5 p.m.
