Residents Recognized for Helping Limerick Woman in Dog Attack

Pottstown Borough officials recognized three individuals who went out of their ways, individually, to help a Limerick woman who was being attacked by three dogs in Pottstown on March 15.

Kaitlyn Fadely, 19, of Limerick, was on the 600 block of Wilson Street in Pottstown when she was attacked by three dogs inside the home and was significantly injured, according to previous Patch reports.

When Fadely ran outside the home, Sarah Pecharo of Schwenksville was driving by the residence and pulled over to distract the dogs; Pecharo was attacked in the process, suffering injuries that sent her to a local hospital, according to the Pottstown Mercury.

Kurt Buchler, of Lower Pottsgrove, heard the commotion and ran over to help lure the dogs away from Pecharo; the dogs then attacked him; he suffered serious injuries on his arms and legs that required two surgeries.

Franklin Street resident Nicole Jordan heard the commotion and drove her car towards the dogs, honking her horn and scaring them off.

All three dogs were surrendered and euthanized after the incident, according to reports.

“Sarah, Nicole and Kurt came to the aid of a complete stranger, while risking their own lives” said Mayor Bonnie Heath while reading the trio’s civilian Service Award commendations, according to The Mercury. “Their actions are both heroic and courageous.”

According to the Times Herald, Fadely and Buchler are also seeking monetary settlements from the owner of the dogs for their injuries.
