Spring-Ford Area SD Unveils New Phone App

The first of its kind in Montgomery County, the app will help to 'strengthen connectivity with families and the community.'

The Spring-Ford Area School District is the first in Montgomery County to launch a phone app, improving communication between students, parents and the district.

The app is available as a free download for iPhones and Androids, and offers access to all district information, including calendars, athletic program information and the district's Facebook page.

“This is a great way for families to stay connected and in-the-know about events in the School District,” said Dr. Allyn Roche, Assistant Superintendent.  “Especially for new families, this app is ideal for familiarizing yourself with the School District, and for our current families it’s a great way to discover something new.”

Discussions toward the phone app began in the public relations committee, members of which were searching for a "modern-day method to be more proactive with communication, develop better ways to support schools and coaches, and strengthen connectivity with families and the community," according to the school district.

Additionally, the app includes single-click calling and email; automatic updates; push notifications for district, schools, and extracurricular events; an address and map feature; and directions that integrate with a smartphone’s GPS.

The app can be found by searching for “Spring-Ford” in the app store for iPhones, and Google Play for Androids.
