Customers Bank Holiday Drive Nets 600 Pounds of Food and supplies for Greater Berks Food Bank

(Wyomissing, PA, January 17, 2014)  Customers Bank’s recent food drive brought in nearly 600 pounds of food, baby supplies and personal toiletries to assist needy local families during the holiday season, bank officials announced today. The holiday drive, which benefited the Greater Berks Food Bank, began in November and ended Friday, January 3rd.

“We are thrilled at the turnout and the level of support that we received from our customers as well as our employees,” said Richard Ehst, President and Chief Operating Officer of Customers Bank. “The fact that they were able to collect nearly 600 pounds of food and supplies says a great deal about our community’s commitment to helping those who are less privileged.”

Customers Bank branches located in Berks County served as collection points for customers and employees to bring in nonperishable food items such as canned goods, bottled juices, cereals, peanut butter, packaged snack items, dry pasta, rice, coffee and tea. Items for infants, such as baby shampoo, lotion, diapers and wipes, and personal hygiene items such as shampoo, toothpaste and bar soap were also accepted.

All items donated at Customers Bank’s Berks County branch locations as well as at Customers Bank office facilities were given to the Greater Berks Food Bank for distribution to local families.
