Working out together = Happy and Successful

Happy Tuesday afternoon... As promised when I posted Pete's story last night... here is Nancy's story to round out our couples' success story.
We have several couples that come to the studio together and it seems that the adage that couples who work out together stay together!
Here is Nancy's experience....

Last October I was fed up.
Like so many folks, I have struggled with my weight for most of my life, but especially after having children.  I kept on thinking I should join a group, but I am stubborn and wanted to do this by myself.  Then I saw a post on Facebook from the Springford Corkboard about Corefit's Lose to Win program, and I was intrigued.

I met with Liz and she explained the program to me.  I went home and told my husband, Peter, that I was going to join the program and asked if he would join with me.   Peter had just had his annual physical and some of his test results were worrisome; so, he said he would do Lose to Win with me. When I walked into my first workout I was nervous. Luckily, I had Peter by my side, and everyone was so welcoming and supportive.  No one cared when I needed an adaptation or a moment to rest; in fact, there was a lot of concern to be sure I was okay.  I came away from that workout sore and appalled at the terrible shape I was in.

Then we met with Joymarie about the nutrition plan that is essential to the program.  As she was explaining everything to us, I was thinking, nope, this is not for me. I was pretty angry about the whole thing, but since I made a commitment to the program, I decided I could do anything for eight weeks.  Now, our first session spanned  Thanksgiving and Christmas and I was not a happy camper---all these great food holidays and I was on a diet!  Nevertheless, I stuck to the program and began to see results.  I made it through the holiday season losing weight!  Since then, I have become a convert of the nutrition program and it is no longer a diet but a change in my eating habits.

Joymarie and Liz tell us that weight is lost in the kitchen and not the gym which is something I have come to believe.  I have learned a lot about nutrition because of the LTW program, but I am most proud of my progress in the gym.  With Liz, Joymarie, Beth and Stephanie's guidance and support, I am so much stronger and physically fit.  The benefit reaped from eating properly is enhanced by the work done in the gym, and I couldn't be happier about that. Going through this journey with Peter has made it easier and more enjoyable. I always have someone who understands what I am experiencing, someone to vent to when needed, someone who is a constant support and someone with whom I can celebrate our successes.  I am pleased with my progress, but I am thrilled at Peter's.  There really is no place like Corefit and the Lose to Win Program.  The trainers are fantastic as is the encouragement we get from the other LTW members.  I will be forever grateful that we joined.  As one our fellow members has said---Corefit for life!

Nancy, your slow and steady wins the race attitude has paid off in a powerful way... we are thrilled and inspired by you.
