LGS Unit 2 Returned to Service

After scheduled maintenance was completed, Unit 2 of the Limerick Generating Station is back online.

The following release was submitted by Dana Melia, Communications Manager of the Limerick Generating Station:

Exelon’s Unit 2 was returned to service at approximately 1 p.m EDT today following a successful planned maintenance outage that began May 18. During the outage, workers performed a host of inspections and replaced two steam relief valves to ensure that the plant can continue to run reliably during the peak summer season ahead. Limerick Unit 1 continued to operate at full power during the outage. Limerick Generating Station is located approximately 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia.  With both units at full power, the site can produce enough carbon-free electricity for 2 million homes.
