10 Things You Should NOT Put Down Your Garbage Disposal on Thanksgiving
What not to put down your garbage disposal
The big feast day is almost here! While we all enjoy the Thanksgiving turkey and all the fixings, clean up is never easy. All the greasy pots and pans, the many dishes and the food scraps can take over your kitchen. But while cleaning up, there are some things that should never go down your garbage disposal:
- Celery
- Potatoes and potato skins
- Rice
- Coffee
- Turkey bones
- Pasta
- Corn husks
- Egg Shells
- Lettuce
- Grease
Surprisingly, the day after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year for plumbers but by taking a little time and care, you won't be spending your Friday waiting for the plumber to arrive.
Remember to only put small amounts of food down the disposal at one time. While it may be more time consuming to slowly feed your disposal, it will pay off when it continues to work for you. Keep the water running while the disposal is running and for about 1 minute after if finishes to rinse the disposal clean.
