Name: Erica Redahan Weiherer

Running for: Spring City Borough Council

Party Affiliation: Democratic

Positions Previously Held: N/A

Why are you running for office? I am running for office because I believe that Spring CityBorough can undergo a successful revitalization with strong bi-partisan leadership. Additionally, transparency and communication between local government officials and residents are severely lacking, which, if elected, I intend to change.

What are the biggest issues facing your community? Spring City Borough needs transformative economic development. In order to achieve that, I feel an important step would involve the Borough Council updating the existing building inspection ordinances with provisions requiring landlords to either live within 15 miles of the Borough or designate a manager who lives within 15 miles of the Borough, rental properties should be inspected regularly i.e. every two (2) years and rental permits will not be approved until the properties are up to code. Also, a disruptive conduct section in the rental ordinance could assist law enforcement in cracking down on crime at rental properties.

If elected, what do you hope to accomplish? I hope to push Council to adopt a more effective rental property ordinance, and I hope to assist in developing a successful revitalization plan and lowering the crime rate in the Borough.

Interesting fact about you: I was Student Body Secretary during my senior year of high school.
