Name: Tom DiBello
Running for: Spring Ford School Board
Position Currently Held: President, Spring Ford School Board

Why are you running for office? As a parent with children in the district and an individual with successful experience in Technology and Global Business, I want to continue bringing changes to the district.  Our children will be competing for tomorrow's jobs with children globally and I want to provide our students every opportunity to be able to successfully obtain jobs and have rewarding careers.

What are the biggest issues facing your community?
One of the biggest areas for Spring Ford is to focus on providing the best educational system possible without burdening taxpayers.  Currently the increasing costs associated to the State Pension System and Health caused the board to raise taxes.  If those 2 areas were stabilized we would have either 0% or minimal tax increases  because of the expense reductions that were implemented. If elected, what do you hope to accomplish? If elected I want to be able to continue reducing the tax burden on our community by not allowing wasteful spending it the district. So far we reduced the district debt by $60 millions and I want to be able to continue be fiscally responsible so the debt is completely paid off in the next 10 years.  During my term, the district's State Ranking, which wasn't even in the top 100, is now in the top 6%.  I would like for us to move within the top 10 districts in the state. Also I want to continue raising the bar of education as we prepare our students for a very competitive job market.  Over the past 4 year we implemented programs that are starting to get national recognition and I want to continue moving the district forward gaining the national awareness the community so deserves.

Interesting fact about you:  I am a member of Warriors Watch, which is a group that welcomes home and supports soldiers returning from active service including those who have been wounded or given their lives for our county.  I am Vice President and one of the founders of Spring Ford Youth Football and Cheerleading. Currently, I am a member of the Executive Board at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit.
