A Candidate with a Fresh Perspective - Spring City Borough Council

While I may be relatively new to Spring City, I think one of my greatest assets is that I bring a fresh perspective to the table. I understand that the Republicans on the ballot for Spring City Borough Council have each lived in town for decades, and three have either served on Council in the past or are incumbents. If you are satisfied with the current lack of code enforcement, absence of viable businesses and little to no action to remedy these problems, then I am NOT your candidate. I do not have the luxury of complacency with the current state of our community nor do I have the memories of better times. What I do have is a vision of a prosperous future for Spring City Borough and what I plan to do to help achieve this goal. One major part of a step forward for our Borough is to adopt and implement a Rental Inspection Ordinance that will crack down on absentee landlords, require periodic inspections and provide a guideline for penalties for violating building and conduct codes. I will not sugar coat it: most likely successfully implementing a Rental Inspection/Nuisance Ordinance will cost more money, but honestly, what good is holding on to what amounts to pocket change in the long run when on the other hand, there is a possibility to clean up the streets, increase property values and make Spring City attractive to entrepreneurial business owners? I have not even been elected yet, but because of my occupational experience as a paralegal, I have already drafted an 18-paged Ordinance that would address the above-mentioned problems, and while it still needs work and to be reviewed by the Borough Solicitor, it is a start. Can any of the other candidates on the ballot say the same?
