Informative Program Discusses Suicide Prevention, Teen Depression with Spring-Ford Parents

ROYERSFORD — Spring-Ford Counseling Services is partnering with the Spring-Ford Area School District to provide a suicide prevention program for parents. This presentation will take place in the auditorium of the Spring-Ford Ninth-Grade Center from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. The school is located at 400 S. Lewis Road in Royersford. There is no charge to attend the workshop.

Presenter Jennifer Gehret, M.S., will address how to discuss the issue of suicide with your child, the warning signs of suicidal behavior, how to appropriately question your child regarding suicidal thoughts and offer available resources for families. The presentation will also emphasize how parents can help counterbalance suicidal ideation by improving social supports, cogitative flexibility and promotion of physical health.
