Ursinus College Jazz Ensemble to Feature a History of Jazz Styles

The Ursinus
College Jazz Ensemble will present a concert on Friday, October 25, at 7:30
p.m. in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center’s Lenfest Theater. The event is
free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

Conducted
by Holly Hubbs, Associate Professor of Music, the Jazz Ensemble will perform a
program titled “A Trip Through the History of Jazz.” It will feature a
chronological evolution of jazz styles. Dixieland, swing, bop, cool, and fusion
styles will be presented so that listeners may hear how styles of jazz have
changed from its inception to modern day. Works by jazz artists such as Glenn
Miller, Miles Davis, and Chuck Mangione will be featured.

Ursinus College is
a highly selective, independent coeducational liberal arts college located on a
scenic, wooded, 170-acre campus in suburban Philadelphia. The college is one of
only 8 percent of U.S. Colleges to host a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
