OBIT: Royersford Fire Co. Captain John G. Hedrick

John G. Hedrick Jr., age 83, husband of Joyce L. (Ewing) Hedrick, of Limerick, passed away on Monday morning, November 18, 2013 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Royersford, he was a son of the late John G. Sr. and Martha (Spear) Hedrick. 

Mr. Hedrick was a graduate of the Royersford High School. He was an active member of Royersford Baptist Church, where he previously served as the financial secretary, and was a past choir member. He also coached for the Royersford Baptist Church softball team for 15 years and bowled for the Church team. Among the many sports he enjoyed, he played for the Royersford Clowns softball team, liked to golf, and was an avid Spring-Ford sports fan. He was a member of Liberty Steam Fire Company in Spring City, and both the Humane Fire Company and Friendship Fire Company in Royersford. He was also the Fire Police Captain for the Royersford Fire Department for many years. Mr. Hedrick owned and operated the former Hedrick's Gulf Station in Royersford. He was also a baseball card collector, owning Jack's Sports Cards in Linfield. 

In addition to his wife of 64 years, Jack is survived by three daughters, Sheila L. Jernegan, companion of Mohammed Salam of Pottstown, Brenda E., wife of Raymond Miller of Tuscola, IL, and Becky, wife of Mickey McDaniel of Linfield; brother-in-law Samuel, widow of Gladys V. Thompson; six grandchildren, Lee (Jason) Kratz, Jeremy (Buffie) Miller, Lori (Brad) Pearson, Lori (Matt) Reed, Kyle (Jen) McDaniel, and Kori (Nicholas) Theusch; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at the Royersford Baptist Church, 452 South Lewis Road, Royersford on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Officiating will be the Rev. Karen Selig. Friends will be received at the Church from 5:30-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Royersford Baptist Church at the address above, or to the Spring-Ford Girls' Basketball team in care of the S-F Booster Club, 350 S. Lewis Road, Royersford, PA 19468. Arrangements are being handled by the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford.
