Obit: William F. Pergine, Long-Time Youth Sports Coach

Pergine, a Royersford resident, was a football coach with the Lower Perkiomen Longhorns.


WilliamF. Pergine, 67, husband of Marion J. (Sasse) Pergine, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday of natural causes, according to Cattermole=Klotzbach funeral home.

Born in Conshohocken, PA, Pergine was a son of the late Nicholas and Agnes (Mullen) Pergine.  Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in Royersford. He was devoted to youth sports and was long-time football coach with the Lower Perkiomen Longhorns.   

He worked for the Philadelphia Electric Company for over 30 years as a lineman in Overhead Transmission and as an instructor in Methods and Training before retiring in 2000, for the first time.  He then took on many fun jobs including a school bus driver and supervising for the Lafata company.  He was most happy when he was able to spend time with his children and grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Bill is survived by two children; Jennifer N. Pergine of Royersford; Michael C., husband of Gail (DiMarco) Pergine of Collegeville;  two grandchildren, Maya C. and Joshua P. Pergine; two sisters, Connie, wife of Robert Ercole of Wayne and Rita McGuire of Conshohocken; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Caroline Derro and Nicholas Pergine, husband of Eleanor of King of Prussia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Sacred heart Roman Catholic Church, Lewis Road at Walnut Street, Royersford on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Carl F. Janicki.  Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the Church from 9:00-10:45 AM Friday morning.  

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any youth cause in his memory.  Arrangements are being handled by the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford. Condolences may be offered online by visiting www.RoyersfordFuneralHome.com.
