Obituary: Delia J. (Callen) Lackmeyer, 83

Born in Harrisburg; lifelong member of the Women's Club of Royersford; Nov. 13

Delia J. (Callen) Lackmeyer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 13, 2012, in the Manatawny Manor, Pottstown, PA, just one day shy of her 84th birthday. 

Born in Harrisburg, PA, on November 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Josephine V. (Selba) and Matthew Callen Jr. Mrs. Lackmeyer was a 1946 graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg. After raising her family, she returned to school and graduated from Montgomery County Community College. In 1982 she received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Ursinus College.  She retired from the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts office in 1995. 

Delia was a lifelong member of the Woman’s Club of Royersford, enjoyed gourmet cooking and square dancing.  She was a voracious reader and pursued various interests including arts and crafts, sewing and knitting.  She loved to travel.  Earlier in life she enjoyed a solo trip to Bermuda as well as a cruise on the Queen Mary.  She went with her family on a series of summer camping vacations that ultimately covered most states in the Lower-48.  While at Manatawny Manor she went on planned outings as often as she could.

Delia is survived by her three sons, Robert, husband of Patricia Lackmeyer, of St. Cloud, FL, Stephen, husband of Terry Lackmeyer, of Reading, PA, and Jeffrey, husband of Lee Lackmeyer, of Vidalia, GA; two grandchildren, Christa Laubach, of Mechanicsburg and Dennis Lackmeyer, of Seattle, WA; and a great granddaughter, Sabrina.  She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Patrick Callen, who passed away on January 2, 2012 and Matthew Callen III, who passed away on May 1, 2012.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Washington Street and Sixth Avenue, Royersford, PA on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m.  Officiating will be Chaplain Michael Sullivan.  Interment will follow in the Paxtang Cemetery, 401 Kelso Street, Harrisburg,PA 17111, at 3 p.m.  Friends will be received from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Delia’s name to the Woman’s Club of Royersford, c/o Rose Marie Welsko, Treasurer, 177 Roboda Blvd, Royersford, PA 19468.  Condolences may be offered online at www.RoyersfordFuneralHome.com.
